The Smelter does two jobs. It forms **ingots** from mined ore for the forge and the mint — and it blows **glass bottles** from sand and a mould, which is thirteen of the eighteen recipes below and the half nobody expects. ![Smelter](https://forum.slcoloniesroleplay.com/uploads/default/original/1X/c5ebd7bc15c1bbfcb964bbe5ec6b137435cb78f6.jpeg) The metal ladder climbs with the profession: iron at level 0, copper and steel at 1, silver at 2, gold at 3. **Steel is the expensive one** — 20 iron ore _and_ 4 coal, ten minutes. Two things that cost people ore. **Every ingot spoils within a day** , so smelt metal to order; the glass does not.
