This forum is part of SL Colonies Roleplay, run jointly by Samuel Lison (Australia) and Jayson Wiggans, known in the game as Drakkhis, our lead developer (Belgium).
Our main privacy notice, slcoloniesroleplay.com/privacy, explains everything we keep about you across the game, the website and this forum: why, who receives it, how long we keep it, your rights and how to complain. This page covers what is particular to the forum.

Signing in
You sign in to the forum through the SL Colonies Roleplay website. When you do, the website gives the forum your account number, your username, your display name and your Second Life profile picture. The forum has no password of its own, and it never needs your email address.
Email, only if you want it
You can give the forum an email address, from your profile on the website or in your forum preferences, if you would like the forum to email you notifications, summaries and announcements. It is entirely optional. The forum keeps the address and uses it only for those emails, which Proton Mail delivers for us. You can change it, or switch those emails off, in your forum preferences. The website does not keep it.
What the forum keeps
- What you post: topics, replies, chat messages, reactions, bookmarks, votes and uploads. Public posts can be read by anyone and found by search engines. Chat channels and personal messages are visible only to the people in them, and to our moderators when they need to deal with a report.
- The IP address you use when you sign in and post. The forum compares these to catch spam and duplicate accounts.
- Anything you add to your forum profile: a bio, your birthday (the forum shows a cake beside your name on the day), a country flag, and your time zone (used to show your local time on your card). All optional.
- Notes our moderators write about an account, which only staff can see.
- What the forum works out from your activity: your trust level, badges, points, whether you are online now, and yearly summaries.
Who else sees it
- Our Discord server is told when a new public post is made.
- The SL Colonies Roleplay website reads the forum’s chat to award social points: which account wrote and how much, never what was said.
- Support conversations are archived in a private section of the forum that only staff can see.
We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. The main privacy notice lists everyone else who receives data for the game as a whole.
Cookies
The forum sets no cookies for visitors who are not signed in, and it sets no advertising or analytics cookies at all. When you sign in, it sets cookies that keep you signed in (_t and _forum_session) and remember your preferences.
How long we keep it
Your posts and profile stay until you delete them or your account is deleted. Your IP addresses and our moderators’ notes stay with your account. Deleting your SL Colonies Roleplay account (from your profile on the website) removes your forum account as well; we do that within one month. Where your posts are part of other people’s conversations, we may anonymise them rather than delete them, so the replies around them still make sense.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. For a copy of what the game and website hold, use Request a copy of my data on your profile. For anything else, including your forum posts, write to Samuel at [email protected] or to Jayson at [email protected]; either of us will deal with it. The main privacy notice explains your rights and where you can complain, including Belgium’s Data Protection Authority, our lead authority in the EU.
Children
The forum, like the game, is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not ask for proof of age, but if we have good reason to believe an account belongs to someone under 18, we may ask the account holder about it, close the account and delete its data. If you think a child is using the forum, tell us.
Changes
If we change this page, we update the date at the top and announce anything significant on the forum and in the Herald.
