Aging barrels take a drink that is already finished and make it better for you. Not stronger — the distillery does that — but higher in health, energy, thirst, fatigue and the rest.
It ages drinks you did not make
Anything with a drunk stat can go in a barrel, whether you brewed it, were given it, or bought it off the Marketplace. Take an ordinary wine, run it 28 days and you have a basic vintage; run the same bottle six months and you have a premium one, under your own name.
How a run works
Load between 1 and 500 units at a time — the wait is the same either way, so fill it. Every week the barrel rolls, picks one to three of the drink’s stats at random, and adds a point to each. A bad week is a smaller gain, never a loss.
Stop whenever you like. Finalise age takes what you have, lets you name it, and saves the lot as a recipe, so the next batch is one click rather than a fresh setup.
Wood chips aim it
Add the same number of chips as units of drink — 100 units wants 100 chips. You keep the random roll and gain a guaranteed point in the stat that chip targets.
| Chip | Guarantees |
|---|---|
| Oak | Energy |
| Fir | Fatigue |
| Others | Blood, with more arriving as the trees do |
Chips are bought with crafting experience in the CXP store.
Before you walk away
Set the station’s security to your colony. A run can last months, and one left open to the public is a stranger away from being tied up for a year. As the owner you can always reset it — but the wait is gone.
