There’s a new place to stop in SL Colonies. The Campfire is a fire you can light almost anywhere in the game: pull up a chair, cook the fish you just caught, get your energy back, and keep fishing without ever leaving your seat. Bring friends. There’s a chair for everyone.
Campfire 101: Samuel takes a campfire on a fishing trip and shows you everything it does.
Why it’s so good
- A fire wherever you are. Touch the tool icon on your SLC HUD and choose Camp Fire. The land’s region server sets it down right in front of you, so it works even on land where you can’t rez.
- A seat for everyone. Left-click a chair to sit. Every time someone sits, another chair appears around the fire, until the whole group has a seat.
- Sit how you like, once. Touch the fire, choose Adjust seat, and nudge yourself forward, back, up or down. Every campfire remembers it from then on.
- Rest and recover. Every five minutes by the fire you get +5 energy, +2 health and 5 less fatigue. Light the fire and it’s +7 energy.
- Cook your catch. Drag a fish onto the pan, pick how many, and cook. While it cooks, a pot appears on the fire in-world for everyone to see.
- A shared fire. Feed it twigs (2 minutes each) or wood scraps (6 minutes). It burns down by the clock, and everyone at it cooks while it lasts, so pool your twigs.
- Fish from your chair. Cast while you’re cooking and the cooking HUD folds itself away to a tab, while your chair turns to face the water. It does that for everyone fishing with you. Click your chair or the fire to turn back round.
- Nothing is lost. Get up and wander off whenever you like. Your food keeps cooking, and you can collect it at any campfire.
- Your screen or your browser. Choose Cook on HUD to cook in-world, or Cook on web to open it in your browser if media on a prim gives you trouble.
More than fish
The campfire has its own recipes. Cooked over the fire: dozens of fish, from roach and perch to trout and bream. Camp craft: whittle a Simple Fishing Stick from twigs and twine. The Cook’s recipes: Cooks who know the recipe can make bait here, such as cut bait, shrimp bait, peeler crab, squid strips and sweetcorn bait, to take straight back to the water.
Each recipe card tells you how long it takes and what a portion restores. Short of fuel? The Cook button offers to feed the fire for you first.
Made for company
The campfire is built to bring people together: a fishing trip, a break from the fields, a night by the river with your colony. Light it together, cook together, and swap stories while the fish bite.
